Deeper Digs in Rock: Rock Photographer Mick Rock
Mick Rock (yes, that is his real name) is a British photographer best known for his iconic shots of rock and roll legends such as Queen, David Bowie, Syd Barrett, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and The Stooges, Geordie, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones,Joan Jett, Talking Heads, Roxy Music, Crossfade, Thin Lizzy Mötley Crüe, and Blondie. Often referred to as "The Man Who Shot the Seventies", most of the memorable images of David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust were shot by Rock, in his capacity as Bowie's official photographer.
Rock N Roll Archaeologist Christian Swain spends a lovely afternoon lounging in the Glam parlor discussing his career then and now. Oh yes my pretties, he is still very much active and in demand for any rocker looking to gain credibility or stand up tall against the gods.
Recently Mick was a subject of our show Reel Rock with Andy King, who vigorously breaksdown the 2016 Magnolia Pictures, SHOT: The Psycho-Spiritual Mantra of Rock. Go listen to our interview and then watch the documentary to learn more about this photographic master!
